starting from Piazza Navona one of the most beautifully baroque sites in all Rome, is an ocher-colored gem, unspoiled by new buildings or traffic. Its shape results from the ruins of the Stadium of Domitian, lying underneath. reaching the Pantheon that stands on Piazza della Rotonda, a lively square with cafes, vendors, and great people-watching Where Emperors Ruled Reach Campo de' Fiori in a 5 minute walk...This is not only the geographic center of Rome but a cultural center as well and the site of an open-air food market. After the vendors have left for the day, the cafes and the square come alive. It's our favorite place in Rome for an evening apertivo at one of the piazza's cafes and wine bars. Trastevere We always like to end our final night in Rome by a visit to one of the characteristic trattorie of Trastevere, where locals tell you that you can experience the "real" Rome (as opposed to tourist Rome). The district is separated from the heart of ancient Rome by the River Tiber. It still has much of the look of medieval Rome and remains the city's most "authentic" neighborhood. In one of its bustling restaurants, you can have a good and perhaps affordable meal to end a full day -- unless you plan to hang with us for yet another busy day of touring.
