Rome - The Eternal city

The Bed and Breakfast Rome Vatican suggest you the Growth of Rome History.
Legend kicks off Rome’s 2.700 year history – the story of the twins Romulus and Remus, son of Mars and the vestal virgin, Rea Silvia. Due for ritual sacrifice, the twins were instead saved and cast adrift by their mother. They washed up beneath Rome’s Palatine hill and were raised by a she-wolf. Later they returned to the site, Romulus on the Palatine, Remus the Aventine hill opposite. Both wished the form a city and both quarrelled over what it should be called Roma. Romulus solved things by murdering his brother, becoming first king of Rome in 753 BC. So much for legend. There was probably some sort of settlement in the hills above the Tiber marshes as early as the 12th century BC.
The Eternal City: Appropriately called “The Eternal City” Rome (Roma) is simply timeless. The city grew out of a myth, developed into a powerhouse of antiquity, and became one of the greatest, most democratic and culturally rich civilizations in the history of the world. Its influence has been felt on civilizations in the history of the world, be it on religion, architecture and art. Rome’s magnetism for the first time visitor inevitably turns to the distant past, to the celebrity rulers (Augustus, Claudius, Octavian, Vespasian, Trajan, Hadrian, Tiberius, Caligula, Nero) Rome is all the things you’d expect, and rather a lot you wouldn’t. Neither built nor seen in a day, its history-soaked ruins, churches, paintings and museums would be intimidating even with a lifetime’s sightseeing to spare. At the same time, however, its traffic, dreadful polution, madding crowds and the Romans’ grumpy lethargy can be intimidating in a more unpleasant manner. If you keep a firm grip on your money, avoid the heat of the afternoon, and don’t attempt to see too much, then you should come away with good memories.
